Some married couples find marriage hard and believe that it is harder for them now than it used to be. We, in the church, need to support, encourage, and give help married couples, regardless of how long they’ve been married.

One of the greatest blessings for a child is to have parents in a healthy, thriving Christ-centred marriage. An effective ministry to marriage is crucial for building and maintaining healthy, Christ-centred marriages. The ministry and the marriages within the church potentially have a wide-ranging benefit to both the church and also the wider community.

The church is in a strategic position to strengthen marriages though a Word based ministry to marriage. Investing in marriages, is also an investment in the faith and future of the church and the wider community. This ministry is as important as our  children, youth, men or women’s ministries.

Given the current pressures of the world, including spiritual attacks and busyness, a large amount of church leaders’ time is spent sometimes on one-to-one marriage/family counselling. A proactive marriage ministry, led by a suitable married couple with a strong marriage and a love for marriage, empowered by church leadership, would positively impact such time.

The ministry being focused on building, strengthening marriages of any condition or length married. It should have a goal of having trained mentors and the regular running of equipping events, such as evenings, weekend retreats or conferences. This will help couples to understand and bring into their own marriage God’s principles for marriage; ways that would impact the direction of their marriage and their individual lives, their family, the church, and the community they serve.

Each Marriage Ministry Kit provides various tools to help churches build effective marriage ministries.
