Marriage Australia was:

originally ‘visioned’ as “Marriage Week Australia” in late 2007.
Launched nationally in September 2008, with many Churches across the nation joining in the week, honouring and celebrating marriage; marriage of God’s design.

Marriage Week being an annual celebration, in the second week of September, to reinforce and promote the benefits/importance of marriage, and increase awareness and value of pre-marriage and in-marriage education.

We believe:

The value of marriage, which as a binding public commitment, becomes the foundation of healthy families, healthy children, and a healthy community.
Marriage is ‘the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life’
The quality of our nation’s marital relationships will determine the destiny of Australia. The strength of Australian families depends on the qualities of the relationships between our nation’s mothers and fathers. Therefore marriage should be encouraged, strengthened, valued and supported by society and individuals in every possible way as a social good.

VISION

To forge a network of Christian churches and other Christian people across Australia who will work together to offer positive resources during Marriage Week that will help couples reaffirm the value of and commitment to their marriage.

AIM

To have an annual celebration to reinforce and promote the benefits/importance of marriage and;

To create a marriage culture within the Christian church.

To reaffirm:

The value of marriage, which as a binding public commitment becomes the foundation of healthy families, healthy children, and a healthy community.
That marriage is ‘the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life’
The quality of our nation’s marital relationships will determine the destiny of Australia. Therefore marriage should be encouraged, strengthened, valued and supported by society and individuals in every possible way as a social good.

January 2024

Annually the first 2 weeks of the year is for us a “retreat” spending more time with the Lord and in particular to learn the path He wants the ministry to take for the coming year. This year I believe I heard from the Lord saying that:

“Eyes should be on Jesus ahead of your marriage then all will go well with marriage and family.

Invest in your relationship with Jesus first.”

Later I believe I heard the Lord say:

“Look up to what I have said about marriage and not down to the world view – keep your spiritual doors shut to those views.” And

“Awaken the word of God on marriage in your area of influence, and to minister to those getting married, as well as those already married, for them and their marriage to be ‘carriers’ of Christ. All the time standing against the spirit of fear that has crept in to some parts of the church in speaking on the truths of marriage according to the word of God”

After meditating on this and further prayer we saw the need to change the ministry name to reflect the position that the Lord has taken it over the years.

The majority of Christian Radio stations supporting and participating in Marriage Week – special interviews, competitions and giveaways that enrich marriages.
Churches combining together to hold a community dinner to celebrate and honour marriages in the community
Couples bringing their picnic tables with table clothes and candlesticks to have dinner along the promenade – it became an outreach event as people stopped to asked why they were there!
River boat BBQ dinner cruise with a marriage enrichment message
Marriages rebuilt through the messages Christian Broadcasters include during Marriage Week
During Covid – a ‘Zoom’ Date Night
The successful launch of The Marriage Investment Bank with hundreds of couples here and abroad investing in their marriages
The success of the presence on social media with world wide followers
