The Sphere of Arts has the potential to touch lives in a powerful way and can be, and often is, used to communicate the gospel message. Drama, dance, story, jewellery, pottery, embroidery, music and visual image can be expressions both of the reality of our brokenness, and of the hope that is centred in the gospel that all things will be made new. In the world of mission, the arts are often an untapped resource. It is an important means for believers to engage with society, whether through the performing arts, visual arts or other creative arts.
- Thank God for the many singers and musicians who have used their God given gifts to encourage people and for those who have made their music resources freely available. Pray that all in this sphere would humbly model purity and chastity and not yield to any temptations that may come their way, using their gifts to glorify God. (1 Cor 10:13). Some need to experience salvation, while others need a faith community to surround them with support.
- Pray for wisdom and discernment for those who use public monies to support the arts, and for that which is displayed in the public arena.
- Pray that galleries, museums etc would not be places that glorify evil.
- Pray that all artists who are in a traditional marriage would reflect accurately in their art, the beauty and challenges of married life in a way that honours their spouse. Pray that they would remain faithful to their spouse and be a good role model to their family. Please pray that they would make the time to engage with their family.
- Pray that as artists use their art to reflect truth and the good, the ill, the strengths and the weaknesses of the human spirit, and steward them to bless humanity. That they will remember that all people are of value. That they would have compassion on the human condition and ensure that they do not let their art influence their spouse, if married, or family for harm.
- Pray for AI to be used for good and not for evil and for an awareness that that which is AI generated is not always right. Pray for artists, writers and poets to trust God instead of relying on human capabilities (and AI's) limited understanding.
- Pray that artists would not become angry or bitter as they reflect life's struggles in their art, but they would be forgiving and reflect this heart of forgiveness towards their spouse, if married, and family. (Col 3:13)
- Pray for poets and writers that they would use their gifts from God in a manner which honours God's Word and His design, especially relating to family life and marriage. Thank the Lord for those that do.
- Thank God that He sends creativity for artists to create thought-provoking works of art and entertainment that point towards His redemptive plan for humanity.
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 - Thank God for those artists who are followers of Jesus Christ. May they learn to trust and rely on God and give Him the glory. Strengthen and embolden those who do Lord, and continue to protect them from evil please Lord. Pray for more labourers. (Proverbs 3: 5,6)
