Dating your spouse

Being married does not stop you from dating each other!

Dating your spouse will help to enrich your marriage and make it stronger.

The theme for Marriage Week this year is “Marriage a genesis of hope, a fountain of renewal in your journey towards lasting love!”

This theme emphasizes the idea that marriage between a man and a woman as designed by God, can be the genesis, the foundation, of hope and the motivation, stimulation for renewal in life, a transformation of the heart. It motivates couples to grow in their love that endures time and will also serve as a Godly influence in their family and community for generations to come.

Here’s a breakdown of the theme’s meaning:

Genesis of Hope:

When established with a commitment of love and devotion with Christ at its centre, marriage can offer fortitude and resiliency under trying circumstances. For both husband and wife, it can provide consolation, encouragement, and support.

Fountain of Renewal:

Within marriage, there is the opportunity to refresh the relationship, increasing the joy and closeness of husband and wife. There is a continuing process of growth and development between husband and wife, as well as with their relationship to Christ.

Journey towards Lasting Love:

This emphasizes the importance of focused effort and commitment in creating strong, enduring love. Husband and wife need proactively to nurture and

So, what is love?

Two “love”-related events are noted on the February calendar. February 14th is Valentine’s Day, and February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day (for us this should be every day)

Perhaps this is a naive question, but what is love, really? Between the world, woke interpretations and, regrettably, the English language (and probably others) today’s understanding of the word “love” is badly distorted. In the English language, a wide variety of different feelings are described as “love”.

“Love” is a powerful motivating force in many people’s lives, both inside and outside the church. We need to define love correctly so the church’s people are fully equipped for their life ministry in this area.

Inspired scripture writers identified love in its various forms, noting its first use in Genesis 22:2 (Abraham’s love for Isaac) and Genesis 24:67 (Jacob’s love for Rachel). The ancient word that is used is “ahab” (Strongs no. h0157. אָהַב ’âhaḇ; or אָהֵב ’aheb; a primitive root; to have affection for (sexually or otherwise): — (be-) love (-d, -ly, -r), like, friend.) and appears some 208 times in the Old Testament and describes a deep emotional bond, such as that between husband

It may sound a silly question but why should we in the church minister to marriage/families ? Researching this question will guide us to establish the right theological foundations and biblical principles upon which to build a transformational marriage/family ministry. The following quotes are taken from “Theology of Family Ministry” was written by Ps Scott Turansky with several other theologians. Which is currently being used by The 4/14 Transform World Family Challenge Team [ Matthew Ling, Dr. PC Matthew, Professor Ben Freudenberg, Dr. Scott Turansky & Dr. Rob Rienow]

Theological Foundations for Developing a Life-Changing Family Ministry

Before a church begins the journey of “Family Ministry” it is essential to establish the right theological foundations and biblical principles upon which to build. The first question is not, “How should the church minister to families?” but “Why should the church minister to families?” It is our conviction that transformational family ministry must be rooted in a clear understanding of theology.
Here are ten theological foundations we believe are essential if your church hopes to develop a thriving ministry to and through families. It is our hope this simple document will stimulate discussion among God’s people around the world
