Restore Marriage

We in the church are the key force, with God’s leading, to restore marriage to His design within our nation.

Australia legalised same-sex marriage on December 9, 2017. The federal Parliament passed the Marriage Amendment (Definition and Religious Freedoms) Act 2017 on December 7, 2017, which redefined marriage as “the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life”. This occurred when 12.2 million Australians (52.1% of the population) according to the Census of 2016 said they were Christian.

Many said prior to the Marriage Amendment Act that it was the sharp end of a wedge and that there was much more on the agenda of those behind the Act. Since the Act, many changes have occurred across our nation, from the titles people use in “official” communications, to how mothers and fathers are described on birth registrations, sometimes as Parent 1 and Parent 2. There have been changes to abortion laws across the States and Territories. Also, as of November 2025, all states and

Christians who seek to be the salt of the earth and stand against this “worldly societal trends” need to be fully equipped from scripture. knowing that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7

I can talk of this from my own experience – for many years we were doing marriage our way and people around us from time to time said “we had a good marriage”. Then we surrendered our marriage to Christ and He gave us that ROCK solid foundation that can stand up against any storm or trial. On surrendering our marriage to Christ we realised what we had been missing! Also

Hidden amongst the “bad news” in the last few weeks was a short mention of increased domestic violence in our nation, and it was quickly pushed aside by the other acts of violence occurring around the world.

The news publishers’ interest in family and domestic violence being sparked by a media release from the ABS on the 18 March. The media release stated:
“There were 97,800 offenders proceeded against by police for at least one family and domestic violence (FDV) related offence in 2024–25, up 7,103 offenders (or 8%) from 2023–24. Over a quarter (28%) of all offenders recorded nationally had at least one FDV offence.” The report also states that 78% of FDV offenders were male with a median age of 35yrs against the median age for all offenders of 32 years. 5.1% of FDV offenders were aged between 10 – 17 years.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized “Intimate partner violence” as a global public health crisis. It defines this form of violence as “behavior by an intimate partner or ex-partner that causes physical, sexual, or psychological harm, including physical aggression, sexual coercion, psychological abuse, and controlling behaviors.”

Regrettably, members of the Christian Church in Australia are not
